Print-in-place articulated Tiny Owl!

My smallest design up today 😁

Keychain version included!

Considerations:

  1. It's small and articulated. That means that good bed adhesion is required. For tricky filaments that usually have worse adhesion I recommend using some kind of glue (my personal favourite is 3DLac spray).
  2. Because of its size, I recommend printing them at 0.16 mm layer height. 0.2 mm should work as well.
  3. It has a small built-in brim for the wings. Easy to remove after printing.
  4. It has a couple of support dots in the armpits to help stabilize the wings during printing. It may feel a bit hard to open the wings on the first try, but should be loose after that.
  5. To change colors easily, check my quick tutorial.

EDIT: After several requests, I've added a version with a larger gap for the head articulation. You can find them with the suffix “XG” inside the extra gap folder.

A good first layer is mandatory for the print to succeed. Be sure your printer is calibrated and you have good bed adhesion.

I recommend a slow and thick first layer (8 mm/s and 0.3 mm).

Good layer cooling is also recommended, as it prevents curling and warping on overhangs.
